Tate Britain テートブリテンでターナーの作品と英国の歴史を学ぶ

　I went to Tate Britain. It was rain. And my guidebook wrote a little about this museum. But I was interested in British art.
　今日は雨でしたが、ガイドブックにはあまり載っていないテートブリテンに興味があり、イギリスの絵を見に出かけてみました。

  This building of museum is …like a ….tasty. (Because it is museum?)
　さすが美術館、建物も風情があります。

　I enjoyed seeing many paintings, listening to audio guide.
(In fact, audio guide machine is not available now because only few people used it. But audio guide is available in the web site of Tate Britain for free. The museum also provide earphone and free wi-fi. It should be good news for people who has smartphone.)
　この美術館では、絵画の鑑賞用に以前貸し出したモバイルオーディオガイドを（利用者が少ないので）やめてしまっていますが、代わりに無料のインターネットオーディオがウェブページに掲載されていました。また、美術館ではヘッドホンを貸してくれるので、スマートホンさえ持参すれば、TateのフリーWi－Fiを利用しつつ、各絵の細かい説明を聴きながらじっくりと鑑賞することができます。

　It was good learning experience. Especially, Turner’s painting was so nice. I was impressed his painting about contrast between beautiful countryside and “poor” of a big city which is followed by industrial development. The paint was about the view from Greenwich. And, he painted such a “reality” in some pictures.
　Of course I like his pictures which are painted beautiful countryside in UK. But also, I enjoyed to learn historical background of art. For example, during a certain period, he couldn’t paint about foreign country due to the war. Art is always developed with history of individual countries!
 In this museum, a lot of good tours are conducted. I recommend you to visit and enjoy!
　特に印象に残ったのは、やはり英国の著名な芸術家であるターナーの作品であり、例えばグリニッジより眺めたロンドンに関する絵画等、美しい田園風景と産業の発展によるある種の貧困（ワーキングプア）のコントラストを題材にしたようなものもあり、イギリスの歴史や国民の感情を垣間見ることが出来るのがとても私にとっては有益でした。
　美しい自然を題材とした印象的な素晴らしい絵画のみならず、戦争が原因で海外を描くことが出来ずにイギリス各地のみを描いた時代があったこと等、歴史の流れを感じさせる説明も多々あり、歴史とともに発展してきたイギリスの美術をひしひしと感じつつ、美術館を後にしました。
　なお、ツアーも開催されているので、興味のある人は必見です。

　Today, I also enjoyed walking to the Westminster station. I wanted to see (listen to the) Big Ben! Walking from Tate Britain to Westminster station is very good!
　さて、ウェストミンスター駅までは遠いですが、歩くことをお勧めします。ビッグベンの鐘の音が聴けて、満足！！

　This is tea and scone served in “The Athenaeum” located near Green Park. It was light, pleasant smelling, and, delicious scone! I preferred to spread juicy strawberry jam on this scone firstly, and spread clotted cream. Also, I enjoyed a pot of the tea (7-8 cups of tea!!).
　グリーンパーク近く、日本大使館を右手に見ながら通り過ぎ、５分ぐらい歩いたところにあるアシーニアムというホテルで、お茶とさくっとした香ばしいスコーンをいただきました。ジャムを付けてクロテッドクリームをつけるのがお勧め！お茶はたっぷりとあり、７～８杯ぐらいあるので、かなりお腹がいっぱいになります（さすがに少し残しました）。
