Cotswolds あこがれのコッツウォルズへ！！

At the beginning of the October (During Indian Summer)
 10月初旬（インディアンサマー中です）

 Cotswolds is one of the places that I definitely want to go…I found a good tour on the web site of Veltra. Of course I chose the one conducted in English. Because I stay here to learn many things including English. To learn English, I should put myself into the situation that I can do nothing without English. Also, it is cost effective way. I can enjoy not only sightseeing but also learning language!
　コッツウォルズは、私がイギリスに来たら絶対に行こうと考えていた場所です。今回は、ウェブサイトでVeltraというツアー会社を発見し、英語オンリーのツアーに参加してみました。折角イギリスに来て英語を勉強しているので、否応なく英語を話さなければならない状況を作ることが大事との判断故・・・（観光も出来て一石二鳥！！）

  Firstly, we visited “Burford”.
  It was foggy.  And there are lots of classical buildings. So I enjoyed walking in the mysterious atmosphere in early morning.
  最初に見たのはバーフォードという街です。朝の気持ちの良い空気と、霧が立ち込めるミステリアスな雰囲気を楽しみつつ、古典的な建物を眺めました。

 

 

This is a cup of cream tea and éclair at the “Huffkins”. The cream inside éclair was fresh and very nice! There were some nice and British style souvenirs such as fruit cake, clotted cream, Cornish pasty in the bakery located in the next door to the cafeteria.
　お目当てのHuffkinsというお店でお茶をいただきました。エクレアの中に入っているクリームがとっても新鮮で美味しくって、感動！！隣のベーカリーでは、フルーツケーキやクロテッドクリーム、コーニッシュパスティといった、英国の街ならではの素敵なお菓子や美味しいお料理を売っていました。

 Next, we went to Bibury.
 As everyone knows, this village is very cute and…beautiful. William Morris (England poet) said, Bibury is the most beautiful village in UK! After reading this explanation, I have looked forward to visiting here. It is better than expect! There is beautiful nature such as liver, flowers as well as classical buildings. I felt as if I was in a fairy tale…
　次はついに、バイブリーです。ご存知の英国の詩人であるウィリアムモリスが、英国で最も美しい村であると表現した場所なので、ずっと楽しみにしていました。予想を上回る美しさであり、自然、川、花とともに古典的な建物を眺め、おとぎ話の中に迷い込んだよう・・・

　This is one of the most famous places named “Arlington Row”. It is so cute as well as beautiful!

　こちらが、とても有名な場所な“Arlington Row”という場所です。美しいだけではなく、建物がとてもかわいいです。

 In our tour, we could ate lunch at the Swan Hotel. We could choose Vegetarian cottage pie, Bibury Trout (grown in the Bibury!) or pasta in The Swan Hotel.
　私たちのツアーでは、野菜のカッテージパイ、バイブリーでとれた新鮮なマス、パスタから選択することができるランチが付いていました。

　This is my dish. Trout was fresh and tasty!
　これが、スワンホテルで私がいただいたお料理です。美味・・・☆

　Next, we went to the Bourton on the Water.
　Some people may be a little bit tired because we visited 2 places within few hours. But view from the bus is good. So I shouldn’t sleep in the bus! I could enjoy quiet, calm countryside view.
　次はボートンオンザウォーターです。ここまで、贅沢にも２か所を一気に回ったので、皆と同様、疲れとお昼後の眠気を感じつつも、バスの窓からののどかな風景をみて楽しみました。

 

 There is a river in the middle of the village. Some people was walking along the river. I was walking around the village, seeing liver, nature, classical building and model village (I don’t publish the picture because we have to pay some entrance fee, just in case. But it was so cute!), and listening to birds’ twitting.

　この街の真ん中には川が流れていて、人々がのんびりと散歩しています。ここでは、鳥の鳴き声を聞きつつの素敵な散歩と、とっても可愛いモデルビレッジも見ることができました（※入場有料につき、念のため写真は載せません。）

 

 

 In this village, I also enjoyed shopping. There was famous perfume shop “The Cotswolds Perfumery”. I bought “Muguet” because shop assistance said it may be famous among visitors. There are other kinds of perfumes including the one that famous person loves (tour conductor recommend it!). And I bought wool groves produced in Cotswold!
 また、有名なコッツウォルズの香水のお店“The Cotswolds Perfumery”の香水 (Muguetというものを店員さんに勧めていただきました。) や、コッツウォルズ産の羊の手袋等、私としては押さえておくべきと思っていた品物も購入。なお、ツアーの方いわく、有名な人が愛用しているという香水もあるようです。

　Lastly, this tour went to Stow on the Wold.
  We went to cute cafeteria and enjoyed a cup of tea after seeing traditional church. According to Japanese web site, this church is famous because it has an impressive door behind the church.
　最後に訪れたのはストゥオンザワルドという街。街の伝統ある教会の後ろのドアの美しい造形を拝みつつ、ツアーで一緒に回っている人と、可愛いカフェでお茶をいただきました。

 In fact, I thought I couldn’t go to Cotswolds because I don’t have a car. This bus tour (conducted by premium tour) was wonderful. It is worth while joining!
　コッツウォルズまで車無しで行こうと思うとなかなか大変ですが、このツアーのおかげであこがれていたコッツウォルズを堪能することが出来、満足！
